Abstract:
[Abstract] The common treatments for painful heel syndrome(PHS) include oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, local hormone occlusion injection, plantar fascia, acupuncture, massage and surgery. These therapies have certain curative effects on PHS, but still have the following defects: high recurrence rate, slow effect, long course of treatment and problems of insisting. As the modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine in acupotomology improvement, small needle knife therapy strips inflammation parts from normal soft tissues, promotes local blood circulation and makes nutrients and anti-inflammatory factors locate in inflammatory sites. As a physical therapy, shock wave penetrates soft tissues to reach the inflammatory sites and eliminates the local inflammations noninvasively. Combining the two methods for the treatment of PHS has achieved good clinical effects. The clinical research progress of small needle knife therapy combined with extracorporeal shock wave therapy for heel pain is reviewed in this paper.
