Abstract:
[Abstract] Objective To compare the expressions of E-cadherin in different oral carcinogenesis stages and lymph node metastasis between human and mouse models. Methods Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expressions of E-cadherin in normal oral mucosae, oral dysplasia, oral squamous cell carcinomas(OSCC) and lymph node metastases in human beings(n=24) and mice(n=12), respectively. Results The expression rates of E-cadherin in normal oral mucosa, dysplasia, OSCC and lymph node metastasis were 100.0%, 87.5%, 0.0% and 79.2% in human beings and 100.0%, 83.3%, 0.0% and 100.0% in mice. Conclusion The expressions of E-cadherin are similar in the same pathological stages of human beings and mice respectively. The expression rates of E-cadherin are decreased gradually in both human beings and mice with the increased degree of pathological malignancy, but are increased in lymph node metastases. These results indicate that E-cadherin may play an important role in the occurrence and development of OSCC and submandibular lymphatic node metastase.
