Abstract:
[Abstract] Objective To investigate the value of color Doppler ultrasound in the diagnosis of lower extremity arterial diseases in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods Sixty-two patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were collected as the observation group and other 75 patients without diabetic as the stenosis and occlusion control group. The plagues which occurred in the lower limb femoral artery of both sides, the superficial femoral artery, deep femoral artery, popliteal artery, anterior tibial artery, posterior tibial artery and dorsalis pedis artery were compared between the two groups using color Doppler ultrasound. Results The lower extremity arterial lumen plaques, stenosis and occlusion were significantly higher in the diabetic group than those in the control group. The arterial stenosis below knees, and the occlusion rate in the diabetic group were significantly higher than those in the control group, with significantl difference between the two groups(P<0.01).Conclusion Color Doppler ultrasound is a noninvasive, simple and effective method for early diagnosis of lower extremity arterial diseases especially those below knees in patients with diabetes.
