Abstract:
[Abstract] Objective To elucidate the serum levels of complement C1q and their correlation with other laboratory parameters in HIV/AIDS patients prior- and post-treatment.Methods A retrospective study was performed in which 96 HIV/AIDS patients were included from September 2011 to October 2014 in the Fourth People′s Hospital of Nanning in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and were treated with antiretroviral therapy. The serum complement C1q and other laboratory parameters in the patients were detected and analyzed before and 6 months after the treatment. Methods The concentration of serum complement C1q was significantly reduced in HIV/AIDS patients after antiretroviral therapy(P<0.05). Among them, the serum C1q level was elevated in 33 cases after 6 months of the treatment comparing to 63 cases who showed serum C1q reduction(P<0.05). Blood CD3, CD4, CD8 counts, and CD4/CD8 ratio were elevated while the viral load testing results showed decrease after the treatment comparing with those before the treatment(P<0.01).Conclusion Combination analysis of serum C1q level, T lymphocyte subsets, and viral load is a new and useful clinical laboratory diagnostic strategy and should be considered as a routine monitoring parameter set in HIV/AIDS treatment and prognosis.
