[Abstract] Objective To investigate the association between the expression of B-cell specific moloney leukemia virus insertion site 1(Bmi-1) and non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, We independently searched the case-control studies of Bmi-1 and non-small cell lung cancer that published in Pubmed, Embase, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang database and VIP database both in Chinese and English until March 2015, and a retrospective review of the literatures was analyzed. We extracted the clinic pathological features of NSCLC relevant to Bmi-1, such as gender, age and histological type. All statistical analysis was performed by the RevMan5.2 Meta-analysis software. Methods Eleven case-control studies were eventually recruited, including 697 cases of NSCLC patients and 504 cases of the control group. Meta-analysis indicated that the expression level of Bmi-1 in NSCLC was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.01). The expression level of Bmi-1 in NSCLC was closely correlated with the degree of differentiation and the lymph node metastasis(P<0.01), but not correlated with the pathological types(P>0.05).Conclusion The detection of Bmi-1 expression level may become a new method for the earlier diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring curative effects of NSCLC. |
